Why I am thankful for gathering with Christ’s Church in Idaho Falls

Christ's Church

The people that I hung out with this past Sunday in Idaho Falls are the new creation in Christ.  I am amazed at what Jesus went through for them.  He died for them.  He has a mission for them.  They are the center of His focus in the city.  I love them because Jesus has an unconditional, irreversible, unchanging love for them. My only two handy items for inductive study

I have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to guide my thoughts, illuminate my mind, and teach me God’s will.  I have the complete Word of God to equip me for life.  But there are two other items that are helpful to me personally in Idaho Falls.

Cedric’s

Cedric’s is an Idaho Falls landmark on the west side of town.

I ordered the oink, cluck, and moo burger.  Oink for bacon.  Cluck for egg.  And Moo for cheese.

The beauty and resourcefulness of Idaho’s juniper

(1) My son pruned some inner limbs of the junipers in our yard.  The wood is stable and beautiful.  The red streaks in the stick unveil a rich blend of color.  Wouldn’t you like one of these?

(2) Not only does the juniper possess extraordinary wood, but they are musical factories.  Practically, a dozen birds are chirping and singing in this tree alone.

(3)  Third, I love the smell of Idaho’s juniper.

The Jews, their land, God’s wrath

Tonight, I sat in my first inductive study in a series on Zephaniah in Idaho Falls.

My Bible teacher, Rob Hibbard, has the best sticker on the back of his Ford Ranger topper.

Zephaniah contains three chapters.  In the above picture, this Hebrew name (not counting all the pronoun references) is listed 34 times in the 53 verses, making Him the #1 theme in this ancient 2600 year-old prophecy. Continue reading

Are you ready for this?

It’s snowing on this spring day in Idaho Falls.  Big snowflakes.  Are you ready for this?  Can you believe this?  Actually, it is not surprising for Idaho.

DSC02111

But even more importantly . . . are you ready for this?

DSC02107

It is what the ancient prophet Zephaniah is describing.  I highlighted two vital words for you in the text.  Yom and Yahweh.  Are you ready for the day of the LORD?

We should not be surprised when the God of the nations mightily intervenes in human affairs.
