I have been thinking about Jesus and Israel lately:
- First, I read all the articles in the recent Israel My Glory magazine (Sept./Oct. 2014), covering this theme, “The Evangelical Battle Over Israel“. The inserted article, “Evangelicals Against Israel” by David Brog, particularly highlights the conflict.
- Secondly, I watched as Senator Ted Cruz got booed out of the In Defense of Christians (IDC) Summit in Washington D.C.
- Thirdly, I read yesterday what Doug Wilson, covenant pastor of Christ’s Church in Moscow, Idaho wrote about Cruz: Keeping it Simple. As a dispensationalist, I appreciated Wilson’s words.
All my thoughts centered together last night in a church Bible study on Malachi 4:6-5:5.
. . . So the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion from now on, even forever. (4:7)
Now also many nations have gathered against you, who say, “Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.” But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD, nor do they understand His counsel; for He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor. (4:11-12)
And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD His God; and they shall abide, for now He shall be great to the ends of the earth; and this One shall be peace. (5:4-5a)
Many Jews (and many Gentiles) might think He is mad and has a demon (John 10:20). But Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11). And trusting in His vicarious death on the cross for us is our only hope of peace.
Will you let Jesus lead you “beside the still waters”?
He is the King who will fully reign in Zion.
